Scott Thunder's "Payback" PPV's have come to be a tradition in the T.W.O. The first was held in 2000 when Thunder was acting as Interim CEO, while the real CEO (Paramecium) was MIA. On this night, Thunder challenged World Champion Kamikaze, only to have his first PPV tarnished when Paramecium returned and cost him the match.
The second "Payback" was held in 2002, as Paramecium & Scott Thunder had rekindled their tag team status to take back control of the company from the Hell's Faction. A plan which was finally completed when Paramecium dethroned Hell's Faction leader Sinsyde for the HaRdCoRe Title. A title loss which caused Sinsyde to lose his followers.
The third "Payback" was held in 2004, as Paramecium & Scott Thunder's tag team days were behind them and both hoped to make a final stand in singles competition before the T.W.O. came to a close at Extravaganza 5. At this third and final "Payback" Scott Thunder defeated World Heavyweight Champion Stryknieghn to regain the belt for the unprecedented Fourth time!
But all three "Paybacks" weren't just about Thunder's quest for the World Title. They also served as the grounds for several other memorable moments and matches. Not only was each "Payback" especially violent (Thunder has admittedly asked all officials to give the rulebook a rest at "his" PPV) but Thunder has also signed some... entertaining matches as well.
At the first "Payback" (2000), Thunder signed the first-and-only Brother vs. Brother Strap Match, a Women's Championship "On-With-The-Clothes-Match, a Sumo-Jobber-Championship Match, a Mask vs. Mask vs. Mask Match, and a Family Divorce Match.
The second "Payback" featured the return of Missy Maniac (and subsequently the Women's Division), the debut of Skarekro & Skavenger, the destruction of The Hell's Faction, and the crowning of new Lightheavyweight and HaRdCoRe Champions.
The third "Payback" was not only Thunder's personal best, but also featured a title defense match for every T.W.O. Championship, including a Women's TP Match, a Jobber Championship Match where the champion was also the challenger, a Lightheavyweight Championship Match where a heavyweight challenged for the belt and it also featured the return of the "Dance of Death."
These special matches and many more took place at "Payback," a PPV that could only have been brought to you by the warped mind of Scott Thunder.
On a related note, though this may have been Thunder's final PPV with the T.W.O., he will still be able to dish out some interesting proclamations in the coming weeks, at least until our final PPV... EXTRAVAGANZA 5.
You may have heard that a prematch stipulation was added to Scott Thunder's World Title shot against Stryknieghn. It stated that if Thunder regained the World Heavyweight Championship, he would be entitled to host his own bi-weekly program entitled ICON TV. That program will begin next week and is expected to last 5 episodes until the T.W.O.'s Last Stand at EXTRAVAGANZA 5.
